A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, as stipulated by current legislation, is a mandatory requirement for admission to the Master’s programs. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences—such as Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Advertising, and Public Relations—are given special consideration. The ideal candidates are team players, adaptable, and open to incorporating new knowledge and methods into their work. They should have a strong interest in the humanities, regardless of their background in science or technology, and demonstrate a sense of social responsibility in their professional endeavors.
The admissions process for the Master’s programs requires submitting the following documentation via mail or courier to the Postgraduate Admissions Department:
Once the required documentation has been submitted and verified to ensure compliance with Articles 15 and 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, candidates will proceed with the admission test conducted by the Program Coordinator. This test is typically held in person in Madrid whenever possible; however, for candidates residing outside of Spain, it can also be conducted remotely (online).
The admission test includes a personal interview with the Program Coordinator, during which the candidate’s specific knowledge is assessed through targeted questions related to the field of study. The interview also evaluates the candidate’s maturity, attitudes, and overall suitability for the degree. Following the interview, the coordinator prepares a detailed report outlining the candidate’s skills profile, maturity level, interest in Audiovisual Journalism, and their potential fit for the program. This report is then added to the candidate’s application file for review by the Admissions Committee.
The University Admissions Committee, comprising representatives from the Department, the Registrar, and the Department of University Development, is responsible for recommending candidates for admission to the University Rector based on verified suitability.
Candidates are informed of their admission status in writing and through a follow-up phone call. This communication includes details about the enrollment formalization process, the final documentation required (properly legalized), and other necessary steps for joining the program.
